Why This Space Exists

If you’re here, maybe you’ve felt it too: the sinking feeling when you open social media and see people you love, people who call themselves Christians, spewing hatred. The constant noise that tells you your empathy is weakness. The pressure to stay silent so you don’t rock the boat.

I’ve spent too many mornings waking up to be called a murderer in one breath for having had an abortion and a fool in the next for my political beliefs. I’ve watched compassion get twisted into a political ideology. I’ve seen how quickly people justify cruelty when they’re scared or angry.

And I’m tired of it.

I’m tired of pretending that fear is the same as oppression.
I’m tired of pretending that lives are less important because of where someone was born, who they love, or the color of their skin.
I’m tired of pretending that silence is the answer when the stakes are this high.

Little Blue Texans is a place to say what so many of us are thinking but are too exhausted or too worried to say out loud.
That it matters how we treat each other.
That empathy isn’t radical. It’s required.
That we can love this state and still want it to grow.
That faith doesn’t have to look like exclusion.

This is a space for the little blue dots, the ones who believe in justice, community, and compassion, even when it isn’t popular. Especially when it isn’t popular.

If you feel alone in your convictions, you’re not.
If you’re tired of pretending, welcome.

We’re here to tell the truth, hold space for each other, and remember that caring is not a weakness. It’s our greatest strength.

I want to hear your stories, your experiences of being the little blue dot in a convservative state.

If you have something on your heart, an experience, an essay, or a reflection, consider sharing it here. We’re stronger when we don’t whisper alone. Email your story at amber@littlebluetexans.com.
